it's your tires that made the ride so bad in the snow. Look at your first pic and you can see you were riding on 4 ice-balls. The tread is PACKED with snow...The Wrangler RTS tires are NOT all-terrain tires (never should expect best performance with those tires on this truck -- check tire rack and everyone hates the RTS tires in the snow and ice). This vehicle performs 1000 times better with real A/T tires on it. I have a set of Bridgestone Dueler Revos and they are real all-terrain light-truck tires that grip (tread is almost 3/4" deep) and the tread CLEANS ITSELF OUT, unlike the stock Goodyear RTS tires. The Duelers are great in the dirt and mud....this will be my first winter with them, but other H3 owners I hang with say the H3 is like a tank in the snow with the Dueler Revo tire installed.

Last winter I had the RTS tires and got stuck in about 12 inches of snow. Another H3 owner told me to turn off the Stabilitrak when going in deep snow and that did help quite a bit. He has Revos on his H3 and has no problem going thru 12 - 16" of snow when going hunting in upper Michigan. He said it does get a bit hairy when going thru more than 16 - 18" of snow and that is why GOD gave us the intelligence to create a winch.

Again, remember that this truck's winter performance is hampered because of the RTS all-season tires that come on it from the factory. They are low rolling resistance tires, when compared to real all-terrain tires, that are used to help improve fuel economy --- not winter traction. Every H3 owner I know takes off the stock RTS tires (now the stock tires are BF goodrich rugged trails --- I wonder why???) and replaces them with either the Revos or the BF Goodrich A/T tires.

Other that getting stuck in 12" of snow one time, my H3 has done pretty well in the worst winter the Michigan has seen in a while (2008-2009). After turning off the stabilitrak (this allows for more wheel spin to help clean out the tread) I was able to return to the spot where I got stuck and make it through. If you are driving at normal speed, leave the stabilitrak on -- if you are driving slow because the snow is getting deep, turn it off. For ice, leave it on.

Remember too that momentum is your friend in the deep snow and never go into a questionable area in 4-lo...you have nothing left in case you get stuck. If you don't get your 4x4 stuck, you are not pushing it hard enough.

Thanks. Hope you get to try one with better tires next time.

I've used both cableTV and directTV and they both suck! About a month ago I was able to find something that made it possible for me to get more channels than I had on cableTV and directTV put together. Also there is no monthly fee. Hope this
helps! You can check it out here - http://budurl.com/frmtv4yourpc

Hi Jamie,

He wasn't happy initially as you can tell by the picture. But, after talking to him for a few minutes and letting him know I wasn't with the media and showed him a quick scan of my pic's (that I was focusing on him, not the family) he seemed to be fine.

Also, after seeing him a few times during the event, I think he tends to look like that most of the time. :-)

Either way, it was a good time, I'm still a fan of his, and it's one of those 1.5 seconds of fame moments I can tell friends about...

Thanks all. I really enjoy New York City. I grew up just North of the city and have been there quite a number of times as an adult (I live in currently live in South Flordia). But, this was the first time I really went there to do the "toiurist thing." Everyone should do it at least once.

I really like your use of black and white to capture the city. The shot with the binoculars and the skyline is my favorite shot. Great work.
