I’m still alive… or am I???

Just a quick note to say “Yes, I am alive.” I think…
It’s been a bit crazy the last few months. To summarize…
- Had a “racing week” with the guys where we went to France to watch the 24 Hours of Lemans and saw some Formula 1 testing in Silverstone, England. There’s a few pictures out on the Flickr site, but there’s more to come along with some of the stories.
- Been crazy busy at work. Show up in the morning, put my stiff down on the desk and head to meetings. Sit in meetings until around 5:30 and then I get to sit down at my desk for the day and start hacking through the e-mail, review reports, and all the other stuff that keeps an IT department going. Then head home, do a little more e-mail, eat, sleep, and do it all over again the next morning.
- Been trying to find a decent contractor to re-do the kictchen. You want to make a million dollars…??? Be a contractor who returns a phone call, shows up on time for appointments (or call if you’re going to be late), and deliver a quality project. It’s amazing how much contractors suck in South Florida. “Yeah, I’ll be there. Not a problem. I’ve been in this business for years. I know how to treat my customers right…” Never see him, no calls, nothin’. We think we have one now. but now we’re looking at tile, counter tops, and everything else we need.
- Mom’s been sick… Got one of those calls. Just past midnight, just fell asleep and the phone rings. Mom’s been rushed to the hospoital. Might be a heart attack, but they’re still running tests. Now I feel like the one having hte heart attack, except its in my throat. Mom lives just North of Atlanta and I live in South Florida. Grab the early morning flight, head to the hospital. Longer story short, mom’s doing OK got sent home 5 days later. Still have a ways to go, but things are going OK.
- Getting ready to head out on vacation. This time I’m taking the wife… LOL!!!! :-O We’re heading back to Montana. Big Sky Country. Low 80’s during the day, 50/60’s at night. Bison, cows, horses, ranching. Fresh salmon, blueberries, and strawberry rhubarb pie. Can’t wait. Just need to make it another 10 days. Take a peek… http://www.rainbowranch.com/
All sorts of stuff going on. Just no time to write and complain about it. :-) I guess I could have it worse.
Anyway, like I said, I’m getting ready to head out on vacation at the end of next week and I don’t go back to work until after Labor Day. (Yay!!!) I plan on doing a lot of nothing during that time and catching up on some blog work, picture projects, and oh I don’t know, maybe get some sleep.
