Those moron’s in Boston

Posted by Ron on February 1, 2007

BostonSo, I’m sure everyone by now has heard about the scare in Boston yesterday and how it turned out to be a marketing campaign for the Cartoon Network’s “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” cartoon.

I find quite a few things about this whole issue amazing, the most amazing being the press conference I just heard a few moments ago from the two guys they arrested for the bruhaha.  But, I’ll get to them in a moment.

As I heard more about this whole thing it turns out that this marketing campaign was held in about 10 cities, including New York City.  Why is it that none of the other cities freaked out to the extent that Boston did?  Especially NYC?  You’d think that if anyone was going to be nervous it would be them.

After looking at the picture (see above), I’m not sure I would consider this much of a threat.  Sure, be cautious and check it out.  But close down a bridge, highway and other areas as they check this out.  I can’t believe that the Boston bomb squad could not quickly determine that these devices weren’t bombs.

I’m not saying this was a right or wrong thing to do.  I know we’re in different times than years ago.  But, it seems like the powers that be in Boston are just pissed because they’re starting to look like idiots.  Especially since there were no issues in the other major metropolitan cities that were involved in the campaign.

Now, speaking of idiots, or should I say Jack A**es.  I just heard the press conference that the two guys who just got arrested held and I think they need to get a little jail time for stupidity.

They come out of the courthouse, walk up to the microphones and want to talk about hair cuts of the ’70’s.  They start to ramble on about haircuts and avoid the questions from the press.  When you listen to the tape, you can hear one of the reporters saying that they aren’t taking this issue seriously.  After awhile one of the gentleman starts responding to questions with “That’s not a hair question.”  This goes on for a bit until one reporter asks, “If you go to jail and they cut your hair, how are you going to feel?”  That got their attention.

Considering the heightened state of things in the city, you would think they would play it low key and just say no comment.  Any sympathy they would have gotten from the judge or prosector’s office to end this quickly has probably gone right out the window (in my opinion).  But, they continue to joke about things.  Eventually a reporter asks the lawyer for the dynamic duo if he is embarrased about the conduct of his clients.  He responds with “I have asked them not to talk about the case.”

The whole thing just boggles my mind.
