A few more pictures added to the album…

Posted by Ron on October 4, 2006

Just a quick note.  As I work my way through the mountain of pictures that are sitting on my go through I’ll add them to the Flickr site. I just added about a dozen of various themes.  Always need some variety.

The Legend of Che Guevara…

Posted by Ron on October 4, 2006

‘ve just returned from my recent business trip to Ireland and haven’t really had a chance to get my thoughts or pictures organized for my latest post.  But, I had to pass this one on to everyone.  The Legend of Che Guevara…

For those that don’t know El Che, he was an Argentine-born Marxist, politician, and leader of Cuban and internationalist guerrillas back in the 50’s and 60’s.  His early life was covered in the movie The Motorcycle Diaries.  You’ve probably seen him, or at least his image, and just don’t know it.  A silhouette of his face tends to be on a lot of t-shirts.  Short beard and a Beret.  (Click to learn more about Che Guevara.) Happy October!!!

Posted by Ron on October 4, 2006

Well, here it is…  It’s finally October.  Some people may not understand the relevance of this and why I am so happy.  It’s like crossing the finish line in a race.  A lot of things change in South Florida in October that make us very happy people.

The weather changes - This is the time of the year when the humidity starts to go away.  The nights start getting cooler (translation: It’s below 80 degrees and 90% humidity) and you can actually go outside at night and not feel sticky.  The breezes are a little cooler, and it just feels so much nicer.  When I leave the office I actually smile as I feel that cool breeze blow across my face.

Hurricane season is nearly over - With the exception of last year, we normally don’t get too many storms in October and November.  If we’ve made it this far we are usually fine.  Of course, after last years experience, we still keep an eye out. :-)

It’s almost Halloween and Christmas - For my wife and I, this is the best time of year.  She loves Halloween and I love Christmas.  She has her decorations and I have mine.  Works out rather nice.

Of course, with everything else, you have to take some bad with the good.  The snowbirds will soon be here.  Unfortunately, we’re not talking about the long beaked, nicely plumaged variety.  We’re talking pot-bellied, Speedo wearing, “I’m nearly blind so I guess I’ll drive” variety.

Oh well, if that’s the price I have to pay so be it.  At least when I’m on the side of the road waiting for FHP and the tow truck I can enjoy the breeze. :-)
